We are rescheduling The Hellmouth 2020 to the weekend of October 30 – November 1, 2020. Join us this fall for a very Happy HALLOWHEDONCON!
At WhedonCon, the health of our attendees and volunteer staff is our number one priority. This decision was made in consultation with the Hilton LAX and in compliance with state, city, and federal guidelines.
The WhedonCon Team is hard at work right now to make sure that this year’s convention will be fun, exciting, and safe. We look forward to seeing everyone in October!
All existing badges and vendor agreements will automatically transfer to our October 2020 event. If you can join us in October, no action is required.* If this option does NOT work for you, please e-mail email@example.com stating that you would prefer to: 1) Transfer your badge or vendor agreement to June 2021 for The Hellmouth 2021. 2) Donate the money to Fandom Charities, or 3) Request a refund (but we really hope you can make it ??). As a gesture of appreciation from the Hilton LAX, attendees joining us in October will receive a room rate reduction. Details to follow.
Please check our website (www.The Hellmouth.com) and and follow us on social media for updates.
We have confirmed that the Hilton LAX has taken additional measures, “developed in consultation with global and local public health authorities (including the WHO and CDC) to make our cleaning and hygiene protocols even more rigorous. This includes increasing the frequency of cleaning public areas (including lobbies, elevators, door handles, public bathrooms, etc.), continued use of hospital-grade disinfectant, adjusting food and beverage service in accordance with current food safety recommendations, and have increased the deployment of antibacterial hand sanitizers.”
The Hellmouth will have sanitizer stations set up throughout the convention. High-traffic areas will be disinfected regularly. Items that will be handled frequently such as microphones will be disinfected regularly. Non-latex gloves (two by two, hands of blue) will be used by everyone in the Gaming Room. Gloves and hand sanitizer will be used by all of our staff in high-contact areas (Registration, Autograph Alley, etc.).
We will have health safety posters clearly displayed around the convention. These posters will remind attendees to wash and disinfect their hands regularly (sung to attendees’ choice of the opening theme from Buffy, Firefly, Star Trek, or any other song) and to cover their mouths when sneezing or coughing. If you are in a high-risk demographic (older adults and people with chronic medical conditions) we ask you to take extra precautions.
The safety of our attendees, guests, exhibitors, and team members are foremost in our minds. We will be monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 in the state of California, along with Los Angeles County and City of Los Angeles, and will re-evaluate our plans if there are any significant changes. Please check our website (www.The Hellmouth.com) and follow us on social media for any future updates.
